About
The purpose of Things I Saw Today is to make you look at those objects, places and people that you may see but not really pay attention to, and by doing so, to make you see everyday happenings differently. We often don't notice the life that goes on around us and sometimes we miss beautiful moments, awkward moments, funny situations.
I started this project in 2009 in Toronto, where I lived for over 11 years. While Toronto and Miami are completely different, each city is filled with interesting things, places and people ready to be looked at. Things I Saw Today (TIST for a number of my friends and followers) happens because I carry my camera with me all the time and attempt to capture and establish a connection between those objects, places, people or moments and my audience. In Miami I had to adapt my photography to a different urban landscape, where people drive more and walk less, and to the scenery that is created by the vegetation and colors of a warm climate. In Toronto I got to capture and incredibly diverse ethnic component. In Miami I get to work with the very strong Latin influence that marks the city and its lifestyle.
